Egypt has lots of history. It is the site of some of the earliest people. 8,000 years ago, hunters and fishermen found Egypt. They found the river Nile. It is a river that runs through the country. They chose to live there. They learned how to grow crops and raise animals. More and more people moved there.
Present-day Egypt is different. It is in Northeast Africa. It is a hot country. In summer, it is 40 degrees Celsius.
The capital of Egypt is Cairo. It is a modern city. It is one of the largest cities in Africa.
Lots of people go to Egypt. But people do not go to see the city. They go to see the country's old history. They go to many heritage sites. They go to learn about Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egypt began around 5,000 years ago. It continued for around 3,000 years. Lots happened in that time. It changed the world.
Ancient Egypt is famous for pyramids. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the biggest. It is also the oldest. It is around 4,500 years old. It is 146.5 metres high. For 3,800 years, it was the tallest man-made structure!
We do not know how the pyramids were made. We do not know how the stones were moved. Some people think that they used ramps. They could have used them to carry the materials.
Rulers of Ancient Egypt were called pharaohs. They were like kings or queens. They joined parts of Egypt. They made new laws. They ordered the pyramids to be built.
Ancient Egyptians achieved great things. They made lots of medicine. They made lots of jewelry. They made ink for writing. They invented black ink to write and draw.
People are interested in Ancient Egypt. It is one of the most famous parts of history. We do not know everything about it. What is there left to discover?
