We will watch the following video about a young man, Tim Doner, who can speak many languages. They speak very fast in the video, but it is very interesting. As you watch, ask yourself these questions.

(Students answer in Exercise 1. Teachers can see the answers in the Answer sheet):

  • What is Tim’s first language? Where does he live?
  • How many languages does he speak?
  • If poly means ‘many’ and glot refers to ‘language’, what is a polyglot? Who is the polyglot in this video?

After you watch the video, talk about these questions.

(Students answer in Exercise 1. Teachers can see the answers in the Answer sheet):

  • Why does Tim speak so many languages?
  • How can Tim speak so many languages? Do you think that he has a special talent?
  • Do you think that Tim will have an advantage in his life with so many languages?
  • How many languages would you like to be able to speak? Why? What languages are important to you?
