In the Lesson Document (Exercise 1) there are Vocabulary lists for this reading. With your partners, write a definition for each word you were assigned and then create an example sentence using that word. Some of the words have been done for you.

listening to music

Note that the names of some of these online music sites do not follow traditional punctuation or spelling rules. It is very common when marketing a product or service to create original and unusual names. Here are two examples of names that we all know with nontraditional punctuation and spelling:

iPad
Smrt

After you have completed the vocabulary that you were assigned, read all the definitions that the other students wrote. Ask if you have any questions.

  1. How do you usually get new music:
    1. Do you buy it or download it for free?
    2. Do you share music files with your friends?
  2. What device --an iPod, your cell phone, or something else-- do you use to keep and play your music on? [What does device mean?]
  3. When do you usually listen to your music? How often do you listen? Is music important to you?
