Objectives & Sequence: This lesson is intended to be used as a review of Vocabulary 12-1 & Grammar 12-1.
Students open the Online Dictation page, make sure "United States" is selected for native language, press the START DICTATION button, allow the use of their microphones, and speak the following sentences. Students practice the sentences 2-3 times each, then clear the page, and try to read all the sentence in one attempt. Students should check with a partner to see who pronounced the sentences the clearest. Punctuation must be stated as well.
- (.) = period
- (,) = comma
- (;) = semicolon
- (?) = question mark
Example
- If everyone drives safely, we will not get in an accident.
- "If everyone drives safely (comma) we will not get in an accident (period)"
You can say "new paragraph" to go down a line, and separate your sentences.
Example
- If everyone drives safely, we will not get in an accident.
- If the weather is beautiful, let's go for a ride.
- "If everyone drives safely, we will not get in an accident (period) (new paragraph) If the weather is beautiful, let's go for a ride (period)"
Open the Online Dictation page, allow the use of your microphone, and practice the following sentences. When you are confident in your pronunciation, clear your results. In one attempt, read all the sentences and email the results to your teacher.
- She told the entrepreneur that she wanted an apprenticeship,
- My teacher said that anyone could succeed if they were dedicated.
- Who asked if there were any innovations that day?
- Did he say that he would rather work full-time or part-time?
- My father always said that workplace safety is so important.
- A wise person said that not all existing companies could be trusted..
- Although he was late for a whole week, his boss said that she eventually let him off the hook.
- The employees said that if they weren't treated fairly, they would go on strike.
- My father said that poverty and poor education are closely connected.
- They told me you could apply with human resources the following day.
