In academic essay writing, a quotation is a part of the original text that you include in your essay and is reprinted exactly word-for-word. It is enclosed by a quotation mark on either end of the quotation and needs to be followed by a citation and reference to either a page number or paragraph, depending on the type of source you have.

When it is a website with no page numbers (count paragraphs):
(Porter, 2017, ¶ 5)
