This activity should be done in pairs with one group of three if necessary.
- First, students write in the Exercise the five most important events that shaped their lives. They should use simple language in the Past Simple tense.
- Next, when students have finished their sentences, they share their sentences orally with their partners. They should discuss why these events were important to them and their subsequent results.
- When students have finished discussing their events, they should go back to their documents and think about how their lives would be or would have been different if these events were not to happen. They add to their documents conditional sentences that explain past or present results if the events had not happened.
- When students have finished this step, they discuss how their lives would be different in the present or the past if their important events had not happened.
