Objectives & Sequence: This lesson is intended to be used as a review of Grammar - Reported Speech #2.

Intro Student One Student Two

Students work in pairs and open the corresponding pages below. This activity is to practice the two different ways to report speech. Students take turns reading their Direct Speech sentences to their partners. An example of such a sentence would be:

Could you open the door?

As we have learned in Grammar 12-2, this sentence can be reported two different ways:

  • "You asked me if I could open the door."
  • "You asked me to open the door."

Students listen to the Direct Speech sentences and try to report them both ways. As the answers are written under each sentence, partners should help each other if necessary.
