Using the information in the readings and the lecture, write an essay in response to the following prompt:
Should governments invest money in and report long range forecasts for weather and other geophysical events?
A Global World
Are humans beings living in a global world? Nowadays, the answer for this question is obvious. People are living in a global world. Even a natural phenomenon occur in a part of the Earth, the other part of it is being affected by that phenomenon. The governments should invest money in and report long range forecasts for weather and other geophysical events at least for two reasons: economical as well as health.
First, the economical reason is one of the most heavy argue for investing money in and report long range forecasts for weather and other geophysical events. In fact, according with the article, some experts have given this kind of advice or recommendation to the governments and people in general (Reading 2, 1st paragraph). In the global market, agriculture and foods are relevant areas of services and they produce amont profits. It means, that a natural desaster, especially with the weather could be, not only a grave problem for popullation, but also, a grave economic disaster. For example, an exceess of rain, that cause flooding problems. Consequently, plants, trees and corps could be destroyed. It means, people are going to have difficulties with foods which are directly related with lands, farms and agriculture industry. It supposses lost money. Governments are awared about money. Money is the the last reasons of the economy and an important value in our society.
Finally, health is an important value for people, (take care their health). Welfare is a strong value for our world. If Governments want to do a productive gention, and take care their popullation, then, they need to be awared about changing weather and global warming. The reasons is clair; natural desaster or phenomenon such as El Nino, could cause grave healthy problems. For example, and using the same rain problem example that showed in the previous paragraph, an exceess of rain could cause flooding problems. Consequently, it could bring us problems with insects and deseases like an malaria, or problems with clean water. These problems are very grave and it could cause death and health damage.
In conclusion, people are living in a global world. All natural phenomenon affect all the Earth and government should invest money in and report long range forecats for weather and other geophysical events for economical and health reasons. Definitely, these issues are their responsabitiles and they are obligated to use all tools they know for avoiding problems and damages Governments should think about that and do it.
