Conflict

Fiction is conflict. Conflict is trouble that happens in a story. Conflict can appear in many different ways, but it always exists in fiction.

  • Lewis and Clark are two explorers who are traveling into unknown territory. Weather conditions and wild animals are trouble for them.

Crisis

In fiction, conflict will always lead to a crisis. The crisis of a story is when the conflict becomes so great, something must change.

  • Lewis and Clark are faced with a terrible winter storm that might kill them and have to decide to turn around or keep going.
