If you are lucky, you have people in your life that you love. Once a year, on February 14, we show people how much we love them. Valentine’s Day is a day of love. It is a day of romance. It is a day to think about friendship. It is a day to think about family. It is a day to say “I love you.”

When we think of Valentine's Day, we think of Cupid. It is said that Cupid is the god of love. He flies around with a bow and arrow and shoots people. If he shoots you with his arrow, you will fall in love!

On Valentine’s Day, many people like to give each other cards. They give cards with hearts on them. They put lace and ribbons on the cards to make them look nice

On Valentine’s Day, many people like to give each other flowers. They give big bunches of red and pink roses.

On Valentine’s Day, many people like to give each other presents. They give gifts like necklaces, rings and teddy bears.

Do you have to buy things on Valentine’s Day? No! You could give handmade presents. You can make pretty wooden gifts.

But remember, love is not about cards. Love is not about flowers. Love is not about presents. Love is saying “I love you.” Love is giving hugs and kisses. Love is doing nice things for people. Love is being kind to people.

People say that love is in the air on Valentine's Day. That makes it a popular day for a proposal. On the day of love, people ask others if they want to get married. They tell them they want to spend their life with the other person.

Next year on Valentine’s Day, make your friends something special. Say kind words to your friends. Give your friends big hugs. That is how we show someone we love them.
