Often, we write an apostrophe () with s to mean is:

  • The weather’s very good.
  • It’s sunny very often here.
  • He’s really good at basketball.
  • The weather is very good.
  • It is sunny very often here.
  • He is really good at basketball.

Look at the following examples. The apostrophe and s do not mean is. Do you know this other meaning?

  • My school’s name is Gonzaga University.
  • The team’s name is the Bulldogs.
  • The cafe’s Internet is really fast.
