Who, what and where

  • Drink orders are taken by the server at the table.
  • Drinks are made by the bartender at the bar.
  • Drinks are delivered to the table by the server.

Order of service

  • Choose a person at the table to be seat #1.
  • This will usually be the eldest lady.
  • Take her order first and move clockwise around the table.
  • Deliver her drink first and move clockwise around the table.
  • Do the same for food orders and dessert orders.

Steps for taking a drink order

  1. Show the drink menu and inform the party of the daily special.
  2. Ask if the party is ready to order.
  3. Tell party about the beer, wine or cocktail list.
  4. Offer a personal recommendation (if needed)
  5. Take a drink order from each person in order.
  6. Write down the details on your service pad.
  7. Tell your table how long you will be.
  8. Put in your drink order.
  9. Pick up your drinks from the bar.
  10. Deliver drinks to the table.
