The simple past tense is often used to talk about things that happened in the past. You can change most verbs into the simple past tense by adding -ed onto the end of the word.

A simple past sentence is formed using:

subject + past verb
Subject Past Verb  
I, You, He, She, It, We, You, They rowed the boat across the lake.
