description Exercise
You might see a castle in a kingdom. A kingdom could be big. A kingdom could be small. There were many kingdoms.
The king and the queen lived in the kingdom. The prince and the princess lived in the kingdom. They were the royal family.
A king wore a crown. A queen wore a crown. Only the royals could wear a crown. The king and queen sat on the throne. No one else could sit on the throne.
The nobles worked for the king. Knights were nobles. Some nobles lived in the castle.
A man was called a lord. A woman was called a lady. They had some land. Commoners worked on the land.
Most people were commoners. They were not royal. They did not live in the castle. They could not wear a crown. They could not sit on the throne.
They did not go to school. They worked hard. They were busy workers.
They had to care for the animals. They were farmers. They grew food. It was hard to be a farmer. They made cloth for clothes. Life was not easy.
Life for us is different now. Many places do not have a king or queen. We do not work for the royal family.
Many of us can go to school. We can learn. We can play. A lot has changed since the Middle Ages!
