description Exercise
There are lots of types of artwork. Some are easy to understand. Some take more thinking.
Pointillism is a type of painting. Artists use little dots or points.
Pointillism paintings are interesting. When you look closely, it is hard to see the picture. It just looks like little dots.
But when you look from far away, it is easy to see the picture. All the little dots make a whole picture.
Cubism is a newer type of art. It started around 100 years ago. It began in France.
Cubism is made of lots of shapes. It tries to show you lots of different views at once. It makes the pictures look 3D. It uses light and shadow to jump out.
Cubism might seem strange at first. It can be hard to see what was painted. The longer you look, the more you understand.
Abstract art is modern. It does not look like things we see in the world.
It does not represent real things. It uses lines and colour to make us feel things. Two people could look at the art. But they might feel different feelings. That is what makes it so special.
Resin art is popular in North America. You can make jewelry and paintings.
To make resin art, you mix your resin with dye. Then you pour the resin onto a surface. It gets hard. Then you can add more layers. You can add more layers to make it look pretty. You can even add glitter and stones.
Quilling is a type of art that everyone can try. All you need is paper and glue.
Artists take thin strips of paper. They roll them up to make a shape. Then they stick them onto a big piece of paper. You can make some beautiful designs.
Even the strangest material can become an art piece. Some artists work with gum to make pretty art. Would you work with chewed gum?
