Making negative sentences in English involves adding not to an auxiliary verb. If there is no auxiliary verb, we use don't, doesn't, or didn't.
- You shouldn't have called me last night.
- He didn't take the bus this morning.
- She hasn't seen that movie.
If the meaning of "have" is possession, there are two ways to say it in the present: have or have got. This is only in the present.
- He hasn't got a sister.
- We don't have any time.
- She didn't have any money. (PAST)
Infinitives and ~ing forms can also be negative.
- We asked you not to do that!
- She told me not to come.
- I love not waking up early.
- Not eating is quite unhealthy.
