Collocations are popular in the English language.

What is a collocation?

A collocation is two or more words that we often use together.

One example of this is the phrase "get married."

In Unit 11, we are going to study collocations with the verbs, take, do, play, make, get and have.

In other units, we have studied the following collocations:

Take

  • a taxi / bus / train / subway
  • a test / exam / quiz
  • a bath / shower
  • a photo / picture
  • a trip / vacation

Have

  • a party
  • breakfast / lunch / dinner
  • a hamburger / a cup of coffee

Make

  • breakfast / lunch / dinner

Do

  • yoga
  • homework

Play

  • sports
  • basketball / volleyball
