Talk about it
We often paraphrase (repeat what someone said in our own words) to check our understanding.
- Is this the same in your culture?
- Do you use the same/similar language?
The way to sound friendlier is to have varied intonation (your voice goes up and down more).
- Is that the same in your culture?
- Can you sound friendly in English?
- How do you feel when you do that?
