Verbs that end in 'y' often change 'y' to 'ie' before 's':

'y' doesn't change to 'ie' if the ending is 'ay', 'ey', 'oy', 'uy':

  • play = plays
  • say = says
  • buy = buys
  • enjoy = enjoys
  • stay = stays
