Objectives & Sequence: This lesson is intended to be used as a review of Grammar - Making Comparisons #1.

Intro Part One Part Two

Students work with a group of three to four students. In Part One of this activity, there is a discussion in which students describe their height, age, family size, etc.. Then, in Part Two, students think about each other's answers in Part One to answer further questions that focus on the usage of comparative and superlative adjectives.

Discuss answers to the following questions with your group. When you are finished, go to Part Two.

  • How tall are you?
  • How old are you?
    • If students are the same age, ask, "When is your birthday?"
  • How many people are there in your family?

Now, discuss answers to the following questions:

  1. Who is the tallest student in the group?
  2. Who is the shortest student?
  3. Who is taller than you?
  4. Who is shorter than you?
  5. Is anyone the same height?

 

  1. Who is the oldest student in the group?
  2. Who is the youngest?
  3. Who is older than you?
  4. Who is younger than you?
  5. Is anyone the same age?

 

  1. Who has the biggest family?
  2. Who has the smallest family?
  3. Who has a bigger family than you?
  4. Who has a smaller family than you?
  5. Does anyone have the same size family?
