Practice listening to and saying some language phrases and vocabulary, on their own and in context.

Audio
The audio phrases are the target language. It is played 3 times. First time, just listen. Second time, listen and repeat. Third time, circle items on worksheet while they listen and repeat.
BC's Forest Worksheet
The worksheet is to be used in 2 ways. First, the items on the top are to be circled while listening to the audio. Second, the bottom portion is to be filled out by each student. The bottom part can be shared with the class once complete, giving students an opportunity to talk about what they’ve made, using target language.
If I were a tree Song
Students can watch this video to learn about trees. Teacher can lead students to participate by getting class to sing along and call out the tree part names.
British Columbia Lullaby Song
This is an awesome video which shows off some of the scenery of beautiful British Columbia. It also reviews the woodland animal names.

The story book should be purchased ahead of time or borrowed from the library. Read the story “I can name 50 trees today!” to the students and ask the following questions.
- What is a tree?
DR: (A plant) - What tree does the Cat in the Hat find in Mexico?
DR: (Cypress/Bald Cypress) - What tree does the Cat in the Hat find in Australia?
DR: (Eucalyptus/Eucalyptus tree)
*Etc. - use the book as a guide to elicit different tree types shown in the illustrations** - while reading, make sure to say these tree names out to students, otherwise these comprehension questions will not work.
