Work in a group of 3-4 students. Discuss the following warm-up questions / activities:

  • What does "world wonder" mean? Can you use it in a sentence? Can you give examples?
  • In Exercise 1 brainstorm words and ideas associated with "world wonder" for 2 minutes.
  • Do you agree or disagree? Why?
    • I do enough to protect the environment.
    • Global warming is less important than economics and making money.
    • Any country that does not join the Kyoto Protocol should be punished.
    • Nature is nice, but it is not very important in the modern world.
    • Humankind is doomed!
  • A woman who belongs to Greenpeace knocks on your door.
    • Would you tell her to go away?
    • Would you ask her for additional information?
    • Would you ask her for additional information, and read her information?
    • Would you give a donation to help the organization?
    • Would you join the organization and take an active role in protecting the environment?
