Part One: Warm Up

Look at the photos of the famous athletes below. Below each photo are discussion questions about the person. Discuss answers to these questions with a partner or group. Click each person's name to see photos of them playing their sport if you do not know of the athlete.

Which leagues does his team play in?

Do you know any other women who play in sports usually only men do?
Is car racing popular where you are from?

What makes Michael Phelps special compared to other Olympic athletes?
Have you ever heard the rumour that he eats much more than a normal person?

Why did many people think this was a bad place for the World Cup?

What is the name of the sport Yuna Kim plays?
Why do you think she doesn't live in the country where she is from?
