Verb + Object + Infinitive

In this third verb pattern, we use an object (a person or thing) between the verb and the infinitive:

Let's invite George to come with us.

This verb pattern is possible with the following verbs:

  • advise
  • allow
  • invite
  • order
  • remind
  • tell

My father advised me to travel for a year before starting university.

Mom, could you tell my sister to be quiet please?

Would you please remind me to call Jeff?
