Pronouns are words that can be used instead of a noun to tell us what the subject of the sentence is.

  • I
  • you
  • we
  • she
  • he
  • they
  • it
  • me
  • them

We can replace a noun with a pronoun to avoid repetition.

  • My mother likes music and movies. My mother doesn’t like cooking.
  • My mother likes music and movies. She doesn’t like cooking.

The second “my mother” is replaced by “she.”

Possessive pronouns tell us who or what something belongs to:

  • mine
  • ours
  • yours
  • his
  • hers
  • its
  • theirs
