Custom Curriculum

English courses designed around your syllabus

For universities, school networks and public programs, our curriculum team designs and builds complete English courses around who you teach and what they need. Levels and outcomes are mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), and each course is ready to teach inside Smrt.

Who it’s for

Custom courses are for larger programs

We plan custom courses with institutions that run English across many groups, as part of a wider partnership. Smaller schools start with the ready courses.

Institutions and public programs

Universities, colleges, school networks and government programs running English across many groups. We plan custom courses with you as part of a wider partnership.

Starting smaller?

Begin with our 60+ ready courses. Your teachers can add their own exercises and quizzes alongside them, and we can talk about custom courses as you grow.

What you get

What a custom course includes

Each course arrives as a sequence of complete units, with lessons, practice, assessment, audio and images in place. Your teachers can start teaching it inside Smrt without assembling materials first.

Sequenced to your syllabus and term.

Lessons

Readings, conversations and audio around your students’ world.

Exercises

Practice in eight exercise types, marked automatically.

Quizzes

Unit quizzes and end-of-course assessment.

Built around your program

Mapped to your levels, term dates and exams

We start from what your program already teaches and the exit level students need to reach, then build the scope and sequence to fit. Exam preparation and subject content taught in English are included where your students need them.

  • Levels mapped to CEFR
  • Exam preparation where your students need it

Set in your students’ world

Content your students recognise

In a custom course, lessons are set where your students live: local names and places, recurring characters students get to know across units, and cultural settings that feel familiar. Topics are chosen to suit the age group you teach.

How it works

How a custom course is built

Each project moves from your brief through course design and building to launch. Your academic team sets the brief and approves the course before students see it.

  1. Brief

Who you teach, how many students, what they need, when you start.

  2. Design

A course map with levels, scope and sequence, and learning objectives for each unit.

  3. Build

Lessons, exercises, quizzes, audio and images.

  4. Teacher review

Experienced English teachers review every lesson.

  5. Launch

    Ready to teach inside Smrt.

Review and approval

Learning objectives you can check against your syllabus

Each lesson states its objectives, so your academic team can check them against your syllabus. You review the course and approve it before launch.

  • Objectives stated for each lesson
  • You approve before launch

Questions

What people ask before they brief us

Common questions from program offices and academic teams about size, review and changes after launch.

Anything else? Contact us.

Is there a minimum size?

Custom curriculum is for larger programs, and we plan it with you as part of a wider partnership. Smaller schools start with our 60+ ready courses, and teachers can add their own exercises and quizzes in Smrt Classroom.

Who reviews the course?

Experienced English teachers on our curriculum team, and you, before launch.

Can our teachers add to it?

Yes. The course lives in Smrt like any other, and teachers can add their own exercises and quizzes alongside it in Smrt Classroom.

How long does it take?

It depends on scope. We agree a timeline with you at the brief.

What if something is wrong?

Tell us and we correct it in the course itself, so every class using it gets the fix.

Does it use student data?

No. Courses are built from your brief and syllabus, not from student records.
