For tutors and small teams

Ready-made English courses for tutors, with homework marked for you

Teach from courses shaped by Canadian teachers and mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), set practice, and follow each student’s progress, whether you teach one student or a small group.

I teach on my own. Is this too big for me?

No. You get the same courses and classroom tools a school uses: open a class, share lessons, set practice and see the results. Tell us how you teach and we will show you how it fits.

Ready lessons

Prepared lessons for every level you teach

More than 60 courses across nine tracks include readings, conversations, audio and vocabulary, ready to teach one to one or in a small group. Each course follows a set scope and sequence mapped to the CEFR, so you always know what comes next.

  • Adults, Kids, Youth, Exam Prep and more
  • Readings, conversations and audio
  • Add your own exercises and quizzes

Progress and records

Every student’s work, grades and attendance in one gradebook

The gradebook collects practice, assignment and quiz scores, and you take attendance for each session from the class list. Students see their own progress too.

  • A gradebook for every class
  • Attendance for each session
  • Students see their own progress

Placement and exam preparation

A placement test to start, and exam preparation when it matters

A placement test puts a new student in the right level from the first lesson. When a student has an exam coming up, preparation courses for IELTS, CELPIP and the Oxford Test of English include practice tests modelled on the real exam.

  • A placement test for every new student
  • Exam preparation for IELTS, CELPIP and OTE
  • Quizzes and exams inside every course

Where do I find the time to prepare every lesson?

You don’t have to prepare every lesson yourself. More than 60 courses come with prepared lessons, and homework with set answers is marked automatically, so your time goes on teaching and on marking speaking and writing yourself.

Can I teach one to one?

Yes. A class can have one student or many, so you can teach one to one, in small groups, or both.

What do my students need?

Each student needs a login and any current web browser, or the Smrt Study app for iOS or Android.

Can I add my own material?

Yes. Build your own exercises and quizzes in Smrt Classroom and use them alongside the Smrt English courses, with the scores in the same gradebook.

How do I get started?

Tell us how many students you teach and at which levels, and we will show you the platform and the courses that fit.
