Join a class in the Smrt app

Open the Class tab, tap Join class and enter the class code your teacher gave you. You join straight away, and the class, its work and its quizzes appear. You can also scan your teacher's QR code with your phone's camera. In kids' classes, your teacher needs to accept you first.

Join with a class code

1. Open the Class tab. If you are in more than one class, it is called Classes.

2. Tap Join class. If you are not in a class yet, Home has a Join class button too.

3. Enter the class code from your teacher.

4. Tap Join class.

The app says "You joined" and the name of the class.

Join with a QR code

1. Open your phone's camera and point it at your teacher's QR code.

2. Tap the link that appears.

3. The Smrt app opens with the code filled in. Tap Join class.

If you are not signed in, sign in first. The code is still filled in after you sign in. Without the app, the link opens the join page on the website.

Kids' classes

In kids' classes, joining sends a request to your teacher. The app says your request is sent and that you are waiting for your teacher. You see the class when your teacher accepts you.

Teachers: share your class code

1. Open Class and tap the Students tab.

2. Tap the add button at the top of the tab.

3. Share the class code, or tap Show QR code to show a big QR code that students scan with their phone camera.

To show the QR code on a projector, use the website: Add Student(s), then Show QR code.

In kids' classes, students' requests appear under New students on Home. Tap ✓ to accept or ✕ to decline.

If it still doesn't work

• The app says you are already in the class: the class is in your Class tab already.
• The code does not work: check the code with your teacher. Class codes are 4 to 12 characters long.
• You are offline: you can join when you are back online.
• The app says the QR code is for students: you are signed in as a teacher or admin. Class QR codes are for students to join a class.
• The class is not there after you join: check that you signed in with the email address your school added. See I can't sign in to the Smrt app.
